GENERAL DISEASES CAUSING HEARING LOSS

Abstract
Various general diseases may cause hearing disturbance, either sensori-neural or conductive type, in their processes.
In many cases, there are other metabolic defects or malformation of the ear, eye, integument, skeleton, or nervous system. Both viral and bacterial infections may seriously threaten hearing from embryonic life to adulthood.
In conductive deafness, the occlusion of the eustachian tube is responsible.
In sensori-neural deafness, the hereditary factors account for up to half of the cases with recessive inheritance in majority.
